We’ve given away more than 200 college scholarships over the years worth over $300,000!
About Our Scholarships
The Credit Union is proud to facilitate several scholarship programs. The Credit Union offers five scholarships of their own, but also facilitates four other scholarships for local organizations. Completed applications are also forwarded to the New York Credit Union Association and are therefore eligible for their scholarship awards in the amount of either $1,000 or $500. Awards will be deposited directly to the student’s credit union account upon receipt of a college acceptance letter. The Credit Union is excited to announce that in honor of our 75th anniversary, we’ll be offering two additional scholarships!
In addition to the SEVEN Credit Union scholarships, we facilitate the following scholarships:
- Syracuse Fire Fighters Association Local 280 Scholarship in recognition of Charles and Judith Galloway’s benevolent work.
- Lee Alexander Scholarship (sponsored by the family of Lee Alexander)
- Deputy Chief Timothy T. Laun Scholarship (sponsored by the family of Timothy T. Laun)
- Hero’s & Angel’s Foundation Scholarship (sponsored by the Firefighter Cancer Foundation of New York)
- Deputy Chief Thomas E. Clarke Scholarship (sponsored by the family of Thomas E. Clarke)

Board of Directors
Syracuse Fire Department Credit Union’s Board of Directors serve voluntarily on behalf of the members. The Board establishes the credit union’s direction by adopting policies that set a strategic direction for the organization and provide overall framework.

Supervisory Committee
The supervisory committee at Syracuse Fire Department Credit Union is a group of members who volunteer to inspect the credit union’s records for accuracy, its assets for security, and its procedures as to their adequacy for the proper handling and use of funds and other assets. If you have questions concerning these matters, please feel free to mail the committee.
