Credit Union scholarship applications are available now. Nine $1,500 scholarships are up for grabs to our qualified members. We have been offering college scholarships for over 40 years. Scholarship Sponsors
Five of the scholarships are sponsored by the credit union. However, the remaining four are sponsored by close credit union affiliates. Syracuse Firefighters, IAFF Local 280, the family of Lee Alexander, the family of SPD Deputy Chief Timothy L. Laun, and the Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation all graciously sponsor a $1,500 scholarship. Scholarships may have specific criteria that needs to be met to be eligible. Those details can be found on the second page of the application.
Application Process
Our application process is quick and simple. There are four requirements to submit the application. Students must provide a completed application, a copy of their transcripts, a 300-500 word essay and SAT transcripts if available.
The scholarship application deadline is January 7, 2021. Our third party judges review the blind applications upon receipt. Winners will be selected based on a number of variables including academic achievements, extracurricular and community activities, and the essay. Winning applicants will be selected before our annual meeting to be held on March 23, 2021. All winners will be announced on our social media platforms.
All completed applications will also be forwarded to the Credit Union Association of New York. They offer scholarship awards in the amount of either $1000 or $500. All awards will be deposited directly to the students credit union account upon receipt of college acceptance letter.
In conclusion, this is a great opportunity for the credit union to assist the youth of our community in furthering their education. We are proud to facilitate such a worthwhile cause.
